Warwickshire and Solihull Community and Voluntary Action (CAVA) are the local Voluntary and Community Sector (CVS) Infrastructure Organisation providing vital support to volunteers, groups, organisations, enterprises and charities who are working to strengthen communities.
As a key member of our Senior Management Team, you will be responsible for the sound accounting and financial management of the charity and support the Board and CEO with identifying risk and opportunity for the organisation. You will be responsible for reporting on financial performance to the Board of Trustees.
This role can be hybrid, or if preferred 100% in one of our offices across Warwickshire and Solihull. We would prefer the successful candidate to work over four or five days per week.
What we need from you:- A minimum of 2 years experience working at a senior financial controller level
- Knowledge and use of SAGE and wider accounting software and Proficient IT skills particularly in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of SORP requirements and Charity Accounting practices
- Experience of performance and direct management and supervision of a finance team
- Skilled with budget preparation and presenting financial and management accounts and reports and data
- Possess an analytical mindset with the ability to translate data and insights to identify potential risk and opportunity
- Able to liaise with auditors, business advisors and board members
- Experience with VAT and partial exemption, Pension & Auto Enrolment and payroll processes
Qualifications needed:- At least CIMA, ACCA, ACA or CIPFA level
What the role involves:- Maintaining CAVAs financial management systems, records and reports
- Ensure all legal and statutory accounting standards
- Prepare the annual budget for the organisation and management accounts for the Senior Management Team, Chief Executive, Board of Trustees and identify areas of risk and opportunity in relation to financial sustainability
- Attend Board Meetings
- Responsible for bank, end of year/month reconciliations
- Attend Senior Management Team meetings as required and work with its colleagues to ensure all financial control of processes are compliant
- Provide support and supervision to line managed staff and delegate tasks, accordingly, ensuring financial data is accurately inputted and processed
- Prepare and deliver internal training on financial management and budgeting
- Ensure that the Financial Scheme of Delegation is adhered to and that all transactions are appropriately authorised
Salary: £42,230 per annum (pro-rata).
Hours: Part time, working flexibly 8.30am 5pm - 30 hours per week over 4 or 5 days, with some flexibility around start/finish times.
